Over the course of time, beauty standards have changed a lot. From Rubens’ full shape to nowadays slim models, everything in the world of beauty seems to be completely different. One thing has stayed the same though: beautiful, radiant and clean skin. Sure, we may like our skin tanner than Rubens may have approved of, but in the end, we still love it when it is smooth, fresh and nice looking.

Which are the best things to do for your skin? Read on and find out more.

Don’t Tan

or if you do, use sunscreen. This may go against what was mentioned before about beauty standards, but the truth is that most people don’t even realize just how harmful sun is for skin. It may look pretty and all chocolate-like now, but wrinkles will appear much sooner, if then you can use your best option of anti wrinkle cream to remove it. Plus, excessive tanning (and especially without using sunscreen) is extremely dangerous for your health as well and it can even lead to skin cancer.

UN-Makeup Yourself

Applying makeup is not that much harmful (of course, if you use quality products). Forgetting to remove it though, now, that is a completely different issue. You should definitely remove your makeup every evening with the help of a good makeup remover suitable for your type of skin. Otherwise, black and white will form on your skin and those are something you surely don’t want!

Nature Is a Girl’s Best Friend

Diamonds too, but nature comes first. While most ladies spend huge amounts of money every month on expensive masks and treatments for their skin, they don’t know that what their skin needs is attention – of the natural type. There are a lot of skin masks that can be created at home, with products you most likely have around the house. Olive oil, avocadoes, yogurt, cucumbers, lemons, honey, strawberries, eggs – this may sound like a list of ingredients for a huge tiered cake, but they can also become ingredients for your weekly face mask as well. Depending on your type of skin, you can create masks with as little as one ingredient (avocado for dry skin for example) – and it will be efficient and much less expensive than buying it.

Eat Well

Yes, what we eat influences the way our skin looks. While stories such as “chocolate makes acne worse” are halfway in between myth and reality, there are many other diet-related issues that can lead to bad skin. Lack of vitamin A and E are just two of these issues. Make sure you eat balanced meals and that you combine fruit, veggies, lean meats and complex carbs into your everyday dietary plan and your skin will thank you for it.

And yes, do drink your 8 glasses of water every day. Dehydration is the number 1 enemy for your skin! If you can’t drink plain water, add just a bit of lemon or orange juice in it or replace it with unsweetened green tea. Whichever way you go, make sure you hydrate your body and your skin will look much better!
