Are you feeling a bit deflated? Maybe you wake up each day feeling tired and having to force yourself out of bed in the morning. There are a few simple ways you can supercharge your energy levels to ensure that you’re as healthy and productive as possible.
1. Get Some Exercise
Exercise might be the last thing on your mind when you’re feeling exhausted, low on energy and finding it hard to move forward with your projects, but it might be the most important thing for your body. It’s well known that exercising releases a cocktail of hormones that help improve mood and boost energy levels. So while it might not make the most sense to head to the gym it can be the energy boost you need. Another great thing about exercising is that you’ll be more ready to sleep when the time comes, meaning you will sleep deeper and wake up more refreshed. Doesn’t that sound good? If you’re not currently exercising, considering adding in 20 to 30 minutes a day three times a week.
2. Look Into Meditation
Modern life is extremely stressful, I feel like the average person has so much going on that it’s a constant juggling act. Not only do we have numerous responsibilities, we are also bombarded by social media and distractions constantly, making it harder to find a quiet moment to ourselves. Even times that were previously sacred, such as going to the toilet, are often spent scrolling through our newsfeed on Instagram or Facebook. Even though life has become more modern, our brains haven’t caught up yet and still need plenty of time to relax and unwind. If you feel that your patience isn’t what it should be, or feel stressed out by small details, it could be time to start meditating. If you have never meditated before, then you might want to take a look at this great Chan meditation for some inspiration on how to get started. You don’t have to spend a lot of time meditating to see great results, a few minutes a day will make a big difference.
3. Watch What You Eat
You have probably heard the saying “you are what you eat” more times than you care to remember but it is true. The type of food you eat makes a big difference to how you feel and how your energy levels are. If you’re not getting enough fresh fruit and vegetables, then chances are you are missing out on some key nutrients that you need to get to be feeling your best. If you find healthy food shopping and meal prep a nightmare, click here to learn some tips for making it easier than ever. As a general rule you want to eat healthy nutritious food at least 80% of the time, leaving 20% of your food intake for more interesting things. Obviously you’re welcome to eat more healthily if that works for you and you will benefit from it, but in my personal experience aiming for at least 80% works well for me.
